In which I rate a few 80s tunes
9/10 Promise, The - When In Rome
8/10 Safety Dance, The - Men Without Hats
7/10 One Night In Bangkok - Murray Head
8/10 Hungry Eyes - Eric Carmen
8/10 Father Figure - George Michael

Some favorite lyrics among these.
If you are the desert, I'll be the sea
If you ever hunger, hunger for me
Whatever you ask for, that's what I'll be
...
If you need a friend, don't look to a stranger
You know in the end, I'll always be there.
And when you're in doubt, and when you're in danger,
Take a look all around, and I'll be there.
I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be
But if you'll wait around a while, I'll make you fall for me,
I promise you, I promise you I will.
...
We can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance, well they're no friends of mine
We can act if want to, if we don't nobody will
And you can act real rude and totally removed, and I can act like an imbecile
In searching the lyrics for The Safety Dance, I stumbled across this piece of journalistic brilliance. I was actually taking it seriously, at least the author's intentions, until the following line:
"It would not be that great a leap to believe that a young Tennessee politician by the name of Al Gore might have heard these lyrics and found his inspiration for the World Wide Web, which he crafted from cathode ray tubes, egg cartons and Pop Rocks in his family's barn."
HAHAHAHA
